Morgan's Point shooting: 2 dead at home on S. Jamison

Two people are dead after a shooting in Morgan's Point on Monday morning, police say.

What we know:

Morgan's Point police say officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 200 block of S. Jamison Street around 8 a.m.

When they arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

One body appeared to be in the front yard, and the other in the backyard.

Morgan's Point is located in southeast Harris County, just east of La Porte.

What we don't know:

The men who were killed in the shooting have not been identified as authorities work to notify next of kin.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting or if police are searching for anyone else. However, Morgan's Police police say they are "confident this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public as it relates to this event."

What they're saying:

Neighbors say they heard yelling and gunshots around 8 a.m.

"I heard two gunshots at first and that’s after I heard yelling. I’m not going to say exactly what she was yelling," said Amber Saltana, a resident. "[She was] calling him vulgar names." 

Neighbors said they never heard any prior disturbances coming from the house. They said they were shocked to hear that a deadly incident happened in the neighborhood they describe as a quiet community. 

"You’d never would dream it was your next-door neighbors," said Sandy Underwood, another resident. "You never know what’s behind somebody’s door at their house and right here close to home is sad." 

Investigation underway

The Morgan's Point Police Department is investigating the shooting with the assistance of the La Porte Police Department and the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

What's next:

Police say they will release more information once the investigation is complete.
